CONVERSION OF ABBEY GLEN LAUNDRY TO 46 DWELLINGS
The Abbey Glen project, which was completed in 2021, saw the regeneration of a vacant plot in a densely built residential area of the city, on which the abandoned Abbey Glen laundry building stood.
The project involved the change of use of the existing structure to form 20 apartments, plus the erection of a three-storey apartment building, and 16 terraced town houses. The scheme also created office spaces and a live/ work unit.
The site was split into two plots of land, a main plot which is segmented by the River Sheaf, and an additional smaller piece of land on the opposite side of the main Road, which was surrounded by existing terraced housing.
The constructed residential scheme was fitted with integrated photo-voltaic panels and ground source heat pumps, as well as high levels of insulation throughout, in order to reduce operational energy consumption.
