WESTBOURNE SCHOOL NEW GYMNASIUM AND CLASSROOMS
This two-storey extension to the existing junior school was completed in 2022 and houses a beautifully finished double height gymnasium, and three spacious classrooms.
Materially, the ground floor of the building is finished in pitched faced natural sandstone, and the first floor in Ashlar, both storeys feature grey aluminium windows. To the south west of the building a large expanse of glazed curtain wall connects the extension to the existing historic school.
The development is situated in the Broomhill Conservation Area which provided its own design challenges. Overall, the finished scheme delivers a high-quality sustainable building that responds sensitively to the surrounding area and successfully meets the school’s needs.
